2017: A summary

Written on 2018-02-12 22:44:38 UTC

It's been a while since I've posted anything new here. While I haven't worked on this website the past year, I've certainly been busy.

Graduation

I spent the first half of last year working my ass off to be able to graduate for my Bachelor of ICT. It caused me a lot of stress and many nights with barely any sleep, but when June arrived the time was finally there! I finished the project (which I'll talk about at a later time) as well as the 65 pages of my report. Excluding the attachments of course. The only thing left was a final presentation and a few minutes of answering some though questions. While the presentation could have been better, I managed the questions without too much difficulty. After having to sped 15 minutes waiting in the hallway, they asked me to come back in and presented me my final grade, which was a 7 out of 10. They explained what this grade was based on, but I couldn't really care anymore. All I could think of was: "I graduated!!!"

My own place

I felt a calmness the days after that I hadn't felt in several years. But that was over quickly, as I found a nice little place in Dordrecht to rent, thanks to a collegue of mine. And it is only 5 minutes away from the centre of the city. When I got the key a few weeks later, it was time to get to work. But I decided to take my time as I already had my share of stress the months before. Now, five months later, I have to say I really like it here. It's just a shame I had to leave my cat Bit at home, as pets are not allowed here. 😦

A new hobby

Having a place of my own and being able to work for 40 hours a week made me decide it was time to take on a hobby I always wanted to have. So I decided to "go back to school" for half an hour a week to learn to play the electric guitar. I still have a long way to go before it even remotely sounds decent, but I'm really enjoying myself!

So what now...?

What's next for 2018? Not a clue! I'm looking forward to taking a nice vacation to a beautiful destination, but I haven't decided where yet. As for the rest of the year? I'll make it up as I go along. No stress! 😉
